Matthew Baumgartner, MS, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (ND)
Matthew graduated with a Master's in Clinical Counseling in 2019 from the University of Jamestown. He previously earned a BS in Criminal Justice in 2015 from the University of Jamestown. He is licensed as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in North Dakota. His experience includes working with adults, families, children, and adolescents at West Central Human Services Center, as well as adolescents at the Boys and Girls Ranch in Minot.
He is trained in CBT, TF-CBT, and EMDR. He has experience working with individuals experiencing significant anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and psychosis. He also utilizes EMDR to help people process traumatic experiences. He provides individual therapy to clients aged 13 and older.
He says the most meaningful part of his job is being able to take a journey with clients as they work toward overcoming and making meaning from life’s challenges. The values he prioritizes in his work include being genuine, nonjudgmental, and respectful, while also challenging clients to grow.
Matthew believes in meeting the client where they are in their life journey, respecting that the client is the expert on their experiences, while also acknowledging the importance of being challenged in order to create change.
He believes that often life moves so fast that we need to slow down and look inward in order to change the things around us.
