Desiree Giesen, MS, Psychology Intern

Desiree Giesen is a psychology intern at Solutions Behavioral Healthcare Professionals. She is currently in graduate school, earning a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of North Dakota, where she also earned her M.S. in Clinical Psychology in 2023. Desiree was born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Throughout her doctoral training, Desiree has worked with individuals of all ages and families. She offers a variety of services, including diagnostic assessments, individual and family therapy, and psychological evaluations for intellectual impairments and neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder). She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Desiree is passionate about working with children and their families, particularly in the areas of ADHD, autism, behavioral supports, trauma, mood disorders, and anxiety. In her career, she strives to provide collaborative therapeutic services that incorporate all systems in the client’s life.

Desiree began working at Solutions in 2019 as a behavior modification specialist in the BUILD clinic. Since then, she has served as a psychometrist and practicum student at the Moorhead Solutions office. She also has experience conducting trauma assessments at the Red River Children’s Advocacy Center. Additionally, she worked at the department’s counseling center, Northern Prairie Community Clinic, where she completed psychological evaluations and provided individual therapy.

Outside of work, Desiree enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and two dogs. She loves reading, board games, playing volleyball, going to the lake, and watching sports.
