Courtney Peterson, M.Ed., Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (MN)
Courtney Peterson received her Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California, San Diego. She earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Dakota State University in 2014 and completed post-degree coursework in Behavior Analysis at the University of North Dakota in 2017.
Ms. Peterson completed her counseling internship at Solutions and was subsequently hired at the Detroit Lakes office to provide therapy. Before transitioning to clinical work, she spent seven years in government service, providing community outreach and managing grants for programs focused on community improvement and safety. She has been practicing at Solutions since 2013.
Ms. Peterson is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Minnesota and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). She has training in various evidence-based practices, including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Domestic Violence Education and Intervention, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). She is also an approved supervisor for LPCC and BCBA candidates.
Ms. Peterson works with children, adolescents, adults, and families, treating a wide range of concerns. Her primary areas of focus include behavioral disorders, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, early intervention (ages 0–5), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. While she enjoys working with a variety of clients, she has a particular passion for supporting adults, teens, and children with neurodevelopmental conditions. She highly values authenticity, client education, and developing trusting relationships, believing that openness in the counseling process helps clients explore and make meaningful changes.
Outside of her professional work, Ms. Peterson is actively involved in her faith community, volunteers in natural resource conservation education, and enjoys spending time with her family. In her spare time, she loves water sports, traveling, and gardening.
