Courtney Peterson received her Bachelor of Arts in cultural anthropology from the University of California in San Diego. She received her master’s degree from North Dakota State University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2014. She also completed post-degree work through University of North Dakota for behavior analysis in 2017. Ms. Peterson completed her counseling internship at Solutions, and was subsequently hired on in the Detroit Lakes office to provide therapy. Ms. Peterson previously worked for seven years in government service, providing community outreach services and grants management for programs related to community improvement and safety. She has practiced at Solutions since 2013.

Ms. Peterson is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Minnesota and is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). She has been trained in an array of evidence-based practices, including Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBY), Domestic Violence Education and Intervention, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). She is an approved supervisor for LPCC and BCBA candidates. Ms. Peterson works with children, adolescents, adults and families, and treats a variety of clients. Her areas of focus are treatment of behavioral disorders, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, early intervention (0-5 years), and the provision of CBT. While she enjoys her work with a variety of concerns, she likes to work with adults, teens and children with neurodevelopmental conditions. In her work she highly values being genuine with clients, providing client education, and developing trusting relationships with clients. She feels that this allows for a level of openness in the counseling relationship that facilitates clients considering or making the changes they desire.

In her non-professional life she is involved in her faith community, volunteers with natural resource conservation education events, and enjoys spending time with her family. She fills her spare time with water sports, traveling, and gardening.
