Alexis Cigelske, MS, Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Alexis Cigelske received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2021. She earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Cloud State University in 2023. Alexis completed her counseling internship at The Center for Family Counseling, a private practice in St. Cloud and Monticello, MN, where she primarily worked with couples and families, focusing on alleviating mental health concerns through the context of relationships. She is currently a Clinical Trainee and Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT), working toward full licensure while providing therapy at Solutions.

Alexis is certified in Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP) and is a trained facilitator of the Prepare/Enrich Inventory, which is designed for assessing, strengthening, and treating pre-marital, married, and parenting couples. She has received training and supervision in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed skills, and trauma-informed care. Alexis has a special interest in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, grief and loss, disruptive behavioral difficulties, parenting, parent-child relationships, division of labor, and relationship issues. She enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families and utilizes a systemic approach to therapy, seeking to understand patterns of behavior within the context of the family system.

Alexis is a member of the Minnesota Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT) and was a former participant in the Minority Fellowship Program through the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, which promotes and expands the delivery of culturally competent mental health and substance use services.

For Alexis, the most meaningful part of her work is helping people build relationships, hobbies, careers, and lives they are excited about. She believes in fostering mental wellness rather than simply treating mental illness and takes a strengths-based approach to therapy.

Outside of work, Alexis values time with her husband, family, friends, and dog. In her free time, she enjoys paddleboarding, sewing, quilting, and going on walks.
